Creative Leadership Forum Newsletter Feb 1, 2007 - Creative Leadership from Around the Globe

Former CBC Journalist Don Hill's New 20 Part Radio Documentary Series "Inspiring Leadership"

What exactly is leadership? And what is leading in the 21st century? It’s a question put to over 50 leaders in a series of conversations for INSPIRING LEADERSHIP, a new CKUA Radio Network series about leading in the 21st Century.

You’ll hear from people at the top of their game: Preston Manning, Elizabeth May, leading academics like Henry Mintzberg and Leroy Little Bear, business leaders such as Charlie Fischer and Eric Newell conversations that make a difference.

Leadership comes in many flavours. Whether you’re managing in the middle, running a small business or a large multinational -- perhaps you’re a volunteer at the local community league or a coach -- INSPIRING LEADERSHIP speaks to contemporary leadership, best practices, and the challenge of leading. The documentary series begins January 20th at 8 AM on
the CKUA Radio Network, Canada

The 20 part series will be on-line, inclusive of many 'web extra' audio files and support material.

Melbourne's Andrew Rixon, Managing Director, Anecdote writes

"At the recent Australian Facilitators Conference I ran a workshop on facilitator archetypes. Out of it, I have started to work on a shadow model around facilitator archetypes. What I'd love is to share this with you and get some of your feedback around this model, and also hear more about your interest in archetypes and their shadows as applied to facilitation.

To help me I've designed a survey which may take between 10-15 minutes to complete, depending on the amount of effort taken in filling out the qualitative sections.

We'd like to share with you the link to our paper titled "Exploring the language of facilitation"
recently published in the Group Facilitation' Applied and Research Journal

The survey is still open and Andrew would be delighted if you wanted to participate.

Canadian resident and Irish national, Stephen Joyce Zenergy PD has just given me a couple of draft chapters from his new book "Teaching an Anthill to Fetch - Developing Collaborative Intelligence @ Work" to review.

In this great new work, Stephen makes the case for a third form of intelligence - Collaborative Intelligence (CQ). I couldn't put the work down. I absolutely loved the practical exercises he offered at the end of each chapter.

Steve has very kindly agreed to allow me to upload draft chapters of "Teaching an Anthill to Fetch" for a read by Creative Laedership Forum members before the book goes to print. He asked me to apologise profusely for the typos and the rough draft that has not been properly edited or proof-read.

Highly and enthusiastically recommended!!!

Judith and Andre de Zanger, Directors of New York's Creativity Institute offer the following outrageous adventure..

CARIBBEAN CREATIVITY - Self Empowerment Through the Arts, Sciences
and the Tao on the Caribbean Island of Vieques, Puerto Rico, March
12-16, 2007

Come join us on a beautiful, warm Island in the Caribbean, called Vieques, Puerto Rico, while using your creativity to explore your strengths, purpose and passions and to find answers or new insights. In this week long workshop you will have a chance to experience the philosophy of the Tao, or the Way, as it applies to creativity. The Tao
is about Listening to Your Own Voice, Being in the Moment,  Effortless Action, Enjoying the Journey rather than the Destination and the Importance of Nothingness. The Tao includes both the Yin and the Yang the arts and the sciences.

There will be  five afternoon sessions, from 1 - 4,  under a palm tree on the beach.  In these sessions we will use the Arts to empower your Creative Spirit as well as for Personal Exploration and Self Discovery. We will Draw exploring  lines, shapes and colors ; we will Write allowing words to emerge from our art and nature;  we will explore Mandalas;  we will Sculpt  choose a small stone and allow a form to emerge; and we will do environmental art on the beach.  No previous
experience needed  all are welcome to explore, discover and enjoy the creative spirit within.

There will be three evening sessions, from 8-10,  in which we will learn specific tools and techniques to expand  thinking, shift perspectives and come up with new ideas and resolutions.  You will take a Tao Questionnaire to discover your own creative style and strengths and explore specific methodologies for coming up with new ideas; Brainstorming, Inventium, etc.  We will create a small think tank.

On the fourth evening you will probably want to take a boat tour of the famous bioluminescent bay or have total time on your own and on Friday you will be invited to our house for sunset drinks and dinner.  There will be plenty of time in the mornings and early evenings for exploration on your own or in small groups.  We would also encourage you to either come early or stay later so that you can really take advantage of  Vieques, which is a small, quiet island, two thirds of which is a National Nature Preserve (the largest in the Caribbean). The beaches are easy to get to, the water is clean, clear, warm and wonderful, there are great walks, beautiful snorkeling and swimming and plenty of palm trees for hanging out. You will not need a car for getting around if you stay in Esperanza. You can rent cars or skooters if you want.

Tuition for all of the week - long workshops is $500.  This does not include meals, lodging or transportation.   For information on where to stay, or  e-mail us and we will send you a listing of hotels, apartments and places to stay.

Having worked with Judy I would be there tomorrow if I could...HIGHLY RECOMMENED!!!
